By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Sunday the ECB’s June macroeconomic forecasts would likely show a different inflation outlook than the March exercise.

In an interview with the Italian talk show Che Tempo Che Fa, Lagarde said the inflation forecast contained in the March projections “will probably be revised” in June.

She declined to say whether such a revision would prompt action at the June 11 meeting.

Lagarde described the situation as uncertain and said that the ECB had to monitor all data available and “assess how the economy is going to develop over the course of next quarters, how to determine whether action is needed, and what impact it will have in the medium term.”

She reiterated that the ECB’s target was 2% inflation in the medium term.
