By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Friday that former DNB President Klaas Knot would be well-suited to lead the ECB.

Speaking on the Dutch podcast “College Leaders in Finance,” to be released on Sunday, Lagarde said that Knot had “the intellect, the stamina, and the ability to engage others.”

She noted that an ECB president had to bring together a Governing Council of members she described as “often all prima donnas”, a group she said the ECB president must skillfully “facilitate.”

“He has that ability,” she said. “But he’s not the only one.”
