By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Vice President Luis de Guindos said on Tuesday that ECB’s current level of interest rates was appropriate for present conditions, but that a change in the policy environment could warrant an adjustment.

In an interview with Spanish radio COPE, de Guindos said that “the current level of interest rates is appropriate given the circumstances, which depend on the inflation outlook, our macroeconomic projections and the transmission of our monetary policy.”

He added that given the high degree of uncertainty, any shift in these factors could prompt a revision of the ECB’s stance on rates.
