By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Robert Holzmann on Tuesday said he was unsure what the next monetary policy meeting would bring and warned against cutting interest rates hastily.

In a speech at the CEE Forum in Vienna, Holzmann, who heads the Austrian National Bank, said, 'What will happen in two weeks' time I don’t know.'

'I don’t think we can go down as straight as it is, particularly as we recently had some hiccoughs with regards to inflation', he said. 'Core inflation is still closer to 3% than to 2%. We have a lot of challenges with regard to energy.'
