By Aurėja Bobelytė – VILNIUS (Econostream) – European Central Bank monetary policy easing will be graduaal, ECB Governing Council member Boštjan Vasle said Thursday.

In an interview with Slovenian news portal 24UR, Vasle, who heads the Bank of Slovenia, said, ‘The further reduction of interest rates will be gradual’.

According to Vasle, a soft landing would be achieved as previous interest rate hikes did not have an excessively negative effect on economic growth.

If events in the Middle East and Ukraine escalated further, supply chain disruptions were possible, he warned.

‘With the first decrease we have taken a small step and now we will monitor various data, movements and make further decisions based on the data’, he noted.
