By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and Governing Council member Joachim Nagel reacted on Monday to losses in the bond market due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Speaking in their arrival to the G7 meeting in Paris, Lagarde said that she was “always” worried about bond markets, when asked about the recent sell-off. “That’s my job,” she said.
Nagel, who heads the Deutsche Bundesbank, said that central bankers could do “a lot more” to reassure financial markets and help generate more positive momentum.
