ECB’s Schnabel: ECB Presidency Would Be Fulfilling Task for Anybody

By David Barwick – FRANKFURT (Econostream) – European Central Bank Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel on Monday said that the job of ECB president would be attractive to anyone.

In a podcast with German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Schnabel said, “Of course, the role of ECB president is one of the most important positions in Europe — one in which you can work for Europe — and for anyone, it is a fulfilling task.”

“Fundamentally, the main qualification someone should bring if they want to become ECB president is that they are a convinced European,” she said. “That is the most important thing, more so than nationality.”
