ECB’s Kocher: Good To Keep “Maneuvering Room," React Only When Needed
11 November 2025

By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Martin Kocher said on Tuesday that the ECB should remain ready to respond if risks shift, stressing the need to preserve policy space.
“We are in a good position on interest rate policy”, Kocher, head of the Austrian National Bank, said in Vienna.
“The expectation is that not much more will happen in the next months,” he added.
However, if the economic conditions or risk outlook were to change, the ECB must be able to adjust, he said, emphasizing that the institution should therefore maintain “maneuvering room” to act when necessary.
