ECB’s Nagel: We Can Now Take Time to Ponder Next Steps
8 June 2025

By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Joachim Nagel said on Sunday that the ECB could now take time to consider what to do next.
In an interview with German radio Deutschlandfunk, Nagel, who heads the Deutsche Bundesbank, said that the ECB was ‘no longer restrictive’ and that it could ‘now take the time to look at the situation first.’
‘We now have maximum flexibility at this interest rate level’, he said.
Nagel stated that he could not say if the ECB was done with rate cuts in 2025 and said that the next moves were totally open.
