ECB’s Müller: Would Not Rule Out Possibility of Pausing to Evaluate Situation
25 March 2025

By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Madis Müller said on Tuesday that he would not rule out taking a pause from cutting rates in April in order to evaluate the situation.
In a press conference about the latest economic forecasts of the Eesti Pank, which he heads, Müller said that ‘I really wouldn’t rule out the possibility that perhaps it would be reasonable at least to stop for a moment and evaluate based on new data what the impact of all these factors could be before we make the next rate decisions.’
Interest rates were no longer restrictive, he said.
Any further cuts will depend on the trade environment and tariffs, he indicated.
