By David Barwick – FRANKFURT (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Gabriel Makhlouf on Wednesday reiterated his preference for cautious policymaking.

In remarks at an EU Heads of Mission Meeting, Makhlouf, who heads the Central Bank of Ireland, said, ‘We will continue to follow a data-dependent and meeting-by-meeting approach to determining the appropriate monetary policy stance for the euro area.’

‘In my view, the high levels of uncertainty in the global macrofinancial environment calls for prudence in our decision-making’, he said.
