By Aurėja Bobelytė – VILNIUS (Econostream) – European Central Bank monetary policy will not be contingent on what the US Fed does, ECB Governing Council member Boris Vujčić said Thursday.

In an interview with CNBC, Vujčić, who heads the Croatian National Bank, said, ‘We will run our policy independently from the Fed’.

According to Vujčić, the ECB would cut interest rates depending on European data, adding that the Fed’s choices would not impact what the ECB would decide.

‘We will look at our set of data, and there are obvious divergences between the US and Europe since the start of the inflation cycle, not only now’, he said.
