By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Vice President Luis de Guindos said on Friday that the ECB believed that the inflation target was going to be met.

In an interview on Spanish TV Antena 3, de Guindos said that despite the recent rise in Spanish CPI, the inflation trend was ‘positive.’

‘In Europe and in Spain, we see that the price stability objective is going to be met’, he said. ‘If we look at core inflation, we are relatively confident that we will meet the inflation target, and that’s why we’ve lowered interest rates.’
