ECB’s Müller: Must Remain Cautious About Rate Cuts After June

15 May 2024

By Aurėja Bobelytė – VILNIUS (Econostream) – Even though a June rate cut is highly probable, the European Central Bank should stay cautious about further reductions, ECB Governing Council member Madis Müller said Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Müller, who heads Eesti Pank, the central bank of Estonia, said, ‘I would prefer to remain less specific and repeat the general message that ECB Governing Council members have carried — that it depends on future economic developments and whether we see inflation indicators persistently nearing 2%’.
