ECB’s Herodotou to Be Replaced at Helm of Central Bank of Cyprus

By David Barwick – FRANKFURT (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Constantinos Herodotou will be replaced as of this Thursday, the office of the president of Cyprus announced on Monday.

Herodotou, whose five-year term at the head of the Central Bank of Cyprus ends on Wednesday, will be succeeded by Christodoulos Patsalides, who has served since March 2023 as Special Adviser on Economic Affairs to the president.

Patsilades spent most of his career working his way up the ladder in the private banking sector, rising to top positions at the Bank of Cyprus and then becoming the head of a Cypriot banking association.

However, Patsilades, who has a PhD in economics from the London School of Economics, also spent seven years up to 1996 at the central bank.
