By Laura Contemori – ROME (Econostream) – The Bank of Italy's €-coin indicator, a measure of underlying euro area economic growth, rose to 0.84 in August from 0.54 in July, according to a joint release by the Bank of Italy and the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) published on Wednesday.
The indicator benefited from improved confidence among firms and households and from the positive performance of financial markets.
In August 2025, €-coin stood at 0.47.
€-coin provides a real-time estimate of underlying euro area economic growth, expressed as quarterly GDP growth after stripping out more erratic components such as seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-term volatility.
The next €-coin releases are scheduled for October 2 and November 3, 2026, subject to confirmation.
