By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Martin Kocher said on Monday that inflation rates among Eurozone countries should not diverge in the long term.

In an interview with Austrian newspaper Die Presse, Kocher, who heads the Austrian National Bank, said that “[w]hat matters in Frankfurt is how the European economy has evolved and the average inflation rate in the Eurozone.”

“However, it is important that we not see a divergence in inflation rates in Europe in the longer term”, he added.
