By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Boris Vujčić said on Thursday that the ECB's inflation target would be achieved at the start of next year.

At a conference in Opatija, Croatia, Vujčić, who heads the Croatian National Bank, said that ‘inflation is slowly but systematically converging to our target.’

Inflation would come close to the 2% target by the end of this year and reach it by early 2026, he said.

There was ‘high uncertainty in global markets because of trade wars and their uncertain outcome’, he said.
