By Marta Vilar – MADRID (Econostream) – European Central Bank Governing Council member Joachim Nagel said on Wednesday that developments had been positive with regards to inflation but that the economic outlook was more uncertain.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Nagel, who heads the Deutsche Bundesbank, said that recent data suggested ‘a lot of, let me say, good news when it comes to the inflation story.’

‘When we talk about economic growth there is a lot more of uncertainty because tariffs are not good for economic growth’, he said.

Europe was in a situation of stagnation, according to Nagel, whereas Germany could enter a small recession this year.

‘So, this is what we have to work on, and monetary policy can only give us a good direction when it comes to stable prices’, he said.
